Pachamama Hand Knitted Clothing
Well, the company was started in 1990 when it first started trading goods from the Andean Mountains of South America.
The name 'Pachamama' translates as 'Earth Mother' from Quechua, the ancient language of the Incas.
Since 1996 they have also been trading in handmade wool and cotton products from Nepal.
Their designs have always been essentially colourful with an eye on practicality and price.
Pachamama pride themselves on their fairtrade responsibilities and work closely with the indigenous people of Ecuador and Nepal.
This involves developing strong and sustainable relationships with suppliers from sourcing and collecting raw materials to designing and marketing finished products.
Pachamama have been working with some of the same producers for 20 years!
The majority of production is village based, with knitters supplementing their incomes from farming. A small number of people work in a factory environment to hand finish and pack garments, and to produce a range of hand felted items. All of these people work in excellent conditions and receive benefits and pay above the local standards.
At a time when so many high street and internet stores are populated by the same mass produced clothes, it is Pachamama's aim to allow customers to express their individuality by offering them something a little different.
With that in mind here are some of the latest Pachamama Autumn and Winter designs for 2020.

These hand knitted Beanies made from 100% wool and come fleece lined.
They are hand knitted in Ecuador and Nepal by local villagers using natural wools and dyes to UK designs.
